How to use
  1. Place a small amount into the palm of your hand and gently spread it between both palms.
  2. Press on gently and smooth onto the face and neck before applying your Forever Young Anti-Ageing or Essense Treatment products, followed by the night cream best suited to your skin.
  3. In the morning, always finish with Essense Skin Protect SPF 50.

Use:

· Start by using 2–3 nights per week for the first 4 weeks.

· Gradually increase to nightly use as skin builds tolerance.

· Reduce use to every second or third night if sensitivity occurs.

Special instructions:

· Keep application to the orbital bone only, avoiding the eye area.

· It’s very important to use Essense Skin Protect SPF 50 daily when using Retinol

· DoNOTuse while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Frequently asked questions

I am experiencing slight sensitivity. What should I do?
This is temporary. Reduce frequency of use to every second or third day if uncomfortable. You can also buffer by applying moisturiser first, then Retinol.
Can I apply it on my eye area?
No. Keep application to the orbital bone and avoid eyelids and corners.
Can I use this if I am new to retinoids?
Yes. The combination of Retinol and Retinyl Palmitate with ceramides makes this formula gentler and suitable for those new to retinoids or returning after a break.
Do I need to wear sunscreen when using this product?
Yes. Retinoids increase sun sensitivity, so daily SPF is essential to protect your skin from UV damage.
Can I use this during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No. Retinol is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Can I use Retinol together with Essense Firming Neck & Bust which contains AHA's (Alpha hydroxy acids)?
Yes, you can use both products as part of your skin care routine. Because Essense Firming Neck & Bust Cream contains AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and Retinol supports skin renewal, using them together on the same area at the same time may increase the risk of sensitivity or irritation. For best results: Day: Apply Essense Firming Neck & Bust Cream to the neck and bust area. Night: Use your Retinol treatment. Alternatively, if you prefer using both at night, alternate evenings rather than layering them on the same area. Always apply SPF during the day, particularly to the neck and décolletage. This allows you to enjoy the benefits of both Retinol and AHAs while helping to minimise potential skin sensitivity.
Can I exfoliate on the same night as Retinol Night Treatment?
When introducing retinol, it is preferable to avoid combining it with strong exfoliation or scrubs until your skin has adjusted. Using exfoliation and retinol on alternate nights can help reduce unnecessary irritation. Annique Rooibos also recommends avoiding harsh actives and physical scrubs when initially introducing Retinol Night Treatment.
Is dryness normal when starting retinol?
Some people may initially experience mild dryness, flaking or sensitivity while their skin adjusts. Reduce the frequency if needed and support the skin with appropriate hydration, night cream and moisturisation. Persistent or significant irritation means you should stop using the product until the skin has recovered.
